When school's out for the summer many of us just want to hit the beach and start basking in the sun. But, unfortunately most of us need to find a job to help us deal with our everyday expenses or to help us save for school when fall comes around again. While some people might choose to work in wedding catering Toronto based or work at their local summer camp as a counselor, there are many who like to marry work and fun for the summer months by coming down to Orlando, Florida. Here are some of the jobs that you might be able to apply for this season.
When many people think of Orlando they think of theme parks and the tourism industry, and that is one of the places where you will find a wealth of summer positions. There are seasonal positions at DisneyWorld and Universal Orlando Resort for those interested in everything from those who want to be a gameskeeper to those who want to work in the kitchen of one of their many restaurants. If you're trained in repair, you could become a ride mechanic instead of installing tankless water heaters back home. Or you could put your retail experience to use as a team captain for one of the souvenir shops.
If you're interested in working in tourism but don't want to work at one of the big theme parks, there are many other seasonal jobs that might interest you. Many hotels in the area hire extra staff for the summer months. If you're not from Florida, some even offer rooms to their employees. If you're studying to be a nurse or a teacher and you don't mind changing cloth diapers, there are also many positions available in childcare over the summer. You could be a counselor at a day camp or work in a daycare center.
For those that want to keep learning over the summer months, there are many internships available in Orlando that lead to a number of different exciting careers. You could work in entertainment at Disney or for Fox Sports or could start working with gold mutual funds at a high-end financial institution. Some of these internships will come with a regular paycheck, while others will give you a weekly honorarium. But these jobs are really more for the experience than they are for the money.
If you're interested in a summer job in the Orlando region and don't know where to start, think of the places that people like to go in the summer months. You could apply as an assistant at a local summer arts festival and help them to apply for a research and development tax credit for their student outreach program. Or, you could spend your summer vacation as a caddy at a local golf course or a lifeguard at your favorite beach.
